Fans were livid that Luke Perry was excluded from last nightâs in memoriam tribute at the 92nd Academy Awards.
The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor died on March 4, 2019, after suffering a massive stroke at the age of 52. Considering Perry passed away the week after last yearâs ceremony, many Oscars viewers anticipated to see his face flash across the big screen in the memorial segment of the awards show. However, for whatever reason, Perry was left out of the tribute â and his absence didnât go unnoticed by fans on Twitter.
âLuke Perry wasnât in the In Memorial?? He was literally in one of the most nominated films of the night!! Disrespectful!!â one user tweeted. Another wrote, âExcluding Luke Perry from the Oscars in Memoriam was disrespectful. He appeared in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood which was nominated for Best Picture. Quentin Tarantino personally selected Luke to be in his movie so why not mention him?â
As fans also pointed out, another noticeably forgotten face in the memorial was Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce, who tragically passed away from a seizure in July 2019 at the age of 20. âUm. Where was Luke Perry and Cameron Boyce in that memorial? Upset,â another user added to the outcry. More omissions included Tim Conway, Caroll Spinney, Denise Nickerson, Ron Leibman⊠the list goes on.
Perry was cast in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which received 10 Oscar nods of the night including for Best Picture. So his absence from the tribute was certainly uncanny but has remained unexplained as of yet nonetheless.
The Riverdale actor is survived by his two children â son Jack and daughter Sophie â whom he shared with ex-wife Rachel Sharp and fiancee Wendy Madison Bauer.
