FKA Twigs is branching out from the music world to tell another story. During a recent interview with The Face, the R&B singer revealed that she's working on a television series about martial arts for FX.
âItâs like a martial arts TV series which is very much centred around outsiders,â twigs explained. âAnd the idea of wanting to fit in but not being able to. Iâve been putting a lot of research into the way that the Black community and the Chinese martial arts community have a really deep connection. It goes into music: the Wu-Tang Clan came together almost through martial arts.â
The television network has yet to formally announce the project, so stay tuned for more details.
Last week, twigs sat down with CBS This Morning''s Gayle King for her first televised interview since coming forward with abuse allegations and a civil lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf. During the conversation, King asked the controversial question: "Why didn't you leave?"
âI think we just have to stop asking that question. I know that youâre asking it out of love, but, like, Iâm just going to make a stance and say Iâm not going to answer that question anymore because the question should really be to the abuser: âWhy are you holding someone hostage with abuse?ââ twigs answered firmly.
She concluded: âPeople say, âOh, it canât have been that bad, because she wouldâve left.â And itâs like, no, because it was that bad, I couldnât leave."
Twigs also recently spoke to Elle, where she divulged harrowing new details about the abusive relationship and admitted she was lucky to be alive.
LaBeoufâs legal team has refuted "each and every allegation" in twigs' complaint, and demanded that she pay all of his legal costs, as well as any "further relief as the Court may deem just and proper."
