Doing These 2 Things In The Car Greatly Reduces Your Risk Of COVID-19

If you are cooped up in the car with another person you could be at risk for contracting COVID-19. If you are planning on sharing a ride there are two things you can do to ensure a safer ride.

  1. The first thing you should do is turn off the air recycler. Turning this button off will make sure that new air is circulating into the car from outside, instead of just blowing out and recirculating old, potentially contaminated air. Leaving the air circulator on could be harmful if you are sharing a ride with someone who may be positive.
  2. The second thing to do is to open a window. Unless it is raining or snowing try opening a window for your next ride is the quickest and safest way to ensure a steady flow of fresh air. . "When the windows are closed, SARS-CoV-2 (in fine aerosol particles that cause COVID-19) accumulates in the car cabin. With each new cough, the concentration builds up with no significant dilution happening. But even cracking one window open just 3 inches can keep this at bay," experts shared in an article for USA Today.
