According to the ABC Television Network, Modern Family has been renewed for it's 11th, and final, season. Our time with the Pritchetts and Dunphy's will be during the 2019-2020 season.
The news is interestingly timed as the show's producer, 20th Century Fox, is about to become a Disney-owned property. That would seem to be counter-intuitive since the show will now be wholly owned, but this is how things often go in Hollywood.
The show's stars just signed new deals for the final season that will bring their stories to a conclusion by May 2020. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the renewal hinged on the contracts with the main set of kids on the show: Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould and Rico Rodriguez.
In a statement, ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke said: "Chris and Steve have created one of the most seminal and iconic comedies in television history. In it's final season, there will be more milestone events that anyone who has been a fan of the series won't want to miss."
